Matte Painting

I've decided to try my hand at Matte painting since I hate doing backgrounds and I need to get better. I'm just experimenting right now but It's pretty difficult to achieve what I see in my mind. Here's what I've done so far. I'm still working on it. It's HARD!

GLOMP!

These are some more old characters of mine. This is Kiaji (Key-ah-hee) and her boyfriend Taj. Maybe I'll color this one day, maybe not. It was really just a doodle to keep me on my toes. It has a few technical issues but it's cute enough.

For the Love Of Music

The actual Only musical element in this piece is the headphones...but discounting that fact I still like the way it turned out. This was done for a screenprinting T-shirt company called Skyline.

Vandal/Bandit

Mugshots of my two characters for this project. The mugshot cards say vandal and bandit where the numbers should be....get it? There'll be more illustrative elements going on up near the top, this is just a sketch. More to come

Let the coloring begin!

Eyeballin

Foreshortening is a trial of my patience. The bottom two are original sketches that I did with pen and/or pencil. Perspective is a motherf*cker! I need to practice more. These drawings took way longer than they should Have.

At the top, I finalized the composition and vectored the lines BY HAND because live trace wasn't cuttin' it. My wrist will not forgive me anytime soon .

More Graffiti

This is the actual graffiti I made. It was so hard! I've ever made anything like it before so there was a lot of trial and error that went into making it not look stupid. Can you read it?

Drama at the Pink Kitty

I don't know if I'm sick of this because I've been looking at it so long or if I just really hate the way it turned out. This is the completed illustration of Nina in the strip club where she works. The way the story goes, she gets degraded by some cocky fratboy who throws money at her, but in the end I couldn't decide whether to keep the bills raining down around her or not. I kinda like how they fill up the space but I just feel like they look cheesy. I dunno. I'm just glad to be finished with it.

BTW this file is freakin ginormous and the actual illustration itself is poster size.

Graffiti

This is the beginning of a new project for a client, the theme of it being graffiti/urban/hip-hop. I'll just leave it at that. What you see here is just the tip of the iceberg and a small fraction of the final comp so there is much, much more work to be done and more to come. I'll update accordingly

Update

This project is going to take a while, I can see that now. There are a lot of people in the picture so it's a doozy -_- But Here is a marker to show how it's coming along so far. Here, you can appreciate the details. In the big picture, she's far away so you can't see her face all that well. I know I shouldn't have spent so much time on something thats not even gonna be clearly visible but hey, I'm a freakin perfectionist, so shoot me.

The Cat's Meow

I have begun writing yet another story. My old chars had a story that was always floating around in my head but I never typed it up. Well now I am doing just that. The way things are going I might have to start a webcomic. DON'T HOLD ME TO IT THOUGH!
So yeah, here I have a sketch of Nina, yet again(what can I say? She's my muse) but this time it's not just gonna be a pretty picture. I even made the background first *gasp* :-O

This sketch has already moved on into a work in progress and it'll be a narrative illustration of something that happens in the story. Mmm, Nina you are the pink kitty cat's pajamas.

P.S. Yes, She is a stripper, but see how i censored it for the kids? See there? My art is totally kid friendly! No parental guidance necessary :D

Sequoia Colored

I should've done the background first....and I knew that when I started it, but I just hate drawing backdrops so much, I like cutting to the chase- getting to the good stuff! So I'll figure out the bg later, for now this is what I got. Her hair was the hardest part but also the most fun to do! It's a collage of real phtographic elements and 3d hair. All in all I think it could use some tweaking but I'm pretty satisfied with the result. Her boobs are still too small tho, if you ask me :P

Old Sketches

Opal, Sequoia, Nina
Meilynn, Denali, Kiaji
Ashlee, Casey, Jaime
Anita, Jezebel, Osana
I just found these, old sketches I did about 2 years ago that I never colored. They still look pretty good to me so maybe I'll put them in the queue to finally be finished. There are a few mistakes in them but it's nothing that can't be fixed in photoshop. They look kinda fat to me...well not fat fat...just not as skinny as I'd like them to be. These are more characters of mine that developed around the same time as Nina and Sequoia. Look how neat the lines are. I used to ink stuff but now I'm just lazy.

Sequoia

This is another one of my old characters. When i used to draw her, she was always short with really big curly hair and huge boobs. This is still pretty true to her form, only she looks a lot taller. I'll blame the heels.

More Nina

After drawing Nina and her counterpart I remembered how much I loved to draw her and kept going. I was on a Roll last night.

Nina and Manny

Since I left College I haven't really been drawing that much. I don't know what it is. I've kinda just been all around uninspired. So I've been trying to force myself to draw. I have a few stale ideas floating around in this noggin that have been there for a while. It always helps for me to draw old characters of mine from storylines I wrote during my angsty teenage years. SO all that being said, here's a sketch of my Navajo stripper character Nina and her Latin Significant other, Manny. Cute, no?

blah blah

this is just a test. I hope I can go back and change or delete this later.
